After a relatively slow summer, Detox is back to business. We kicked off our Butt Litter Clean Up Campaign with a clean up around the Smokers’ Pit across the road from one of our local high schools. We received some great media coverage and developed a great relationship with a reporter, who seems very interested in what we do and covering our events.
We have decided to combine our Butt Litter Clean Up Campaign with our Tobacco-Free Sports Campaign by hosting a Ball Hockey Tournament to promote not only Butt Clean Up and Tobacco-free sports , but also healthy, active living. Advertising the tournament, registering teams, as well as setting up the game schedule and Code of Conduct have been keeping us busy.
Luckily, we have had more hands on setting all this up. Over the summer Detox set up our volunteer recruitment program. Starting with just a couple we now have 5 volunteers with more people interested. Andrew has done an excellent job getting in touch with everyone and setting up interviews. Detox has also hired new employees!! In order to cover both Centre and North Wellington, Detox is making some changes. We have 3 new PLs from North Wellington who will be meeting with our veteran Centre Wellington half for now, and spreading Detox’ messages in the 2 northern schools. Welcome Nikkole, Jamey and Allie to the Detox family.
We are all looking forward to seeing everyone at Great Wolf Lodge.
